The Animal Services Bureau, Veterinary Assistant functions as the primary assistant to the staff veterinarian. This position will be responsible for assisting the veterinarian with exams, surgical prep, recovery, maintaining proper care of animals under treatment, and the cleanliness of the Veterinary Suite at the Animal Services Center. Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year related experience in animal care in a veterinary, shelter/animal control, boarding, zoological park, or research facility. Preferences: Certified Veterinary Assistant Experience with Fear Free Techniques Experience in supportive care in a high-volume spay/Neuter Operation Experience in Shelter Medicine or Herd Medicine setting Special Requirements:
- At least 3 years of full-time experience performing animal care in a setting such as an animal shelter,
a veterinary practice, or a laboratory
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must complete euthanasia certification (training provided) within 1 year of hire
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds Work Schedule:
This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with a rotating schedule to include rotating weekend and holiday work. This position is considered essential personnel during county closures and holidays. Starting Salary Range :
