Search Solution Group is seeking an experienced HR Manager on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer of private-label beverages and food products, including juices, teas, waters, and cranberry sauces, for retailers and food service providers. The HR Manager will play a key role in overseeing all human resources functions at the company's Seabrook, NJ facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute all site-level HR operations, ensuring alignment with company policies, labor regulations, and organizational objectives.
- Partner with leadership to improve performance through workforce planning, employee relations, recruitment, and change management initiatives.
- Counsel managers and employees on policy interpretation, employee relations issues, and conflict resolution.
- Implement employee engagement programs that foster a positive culture and enhance retention.
- Oversee recruitment and hiring processes including job postings, screening, interviews, and onboarding.
- Maintain HR systems, including HRIS, payroll, and timekeeping systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Administer benefits programs in partnership with corporate HR; manage open enrollment and address employee inquiries.
- Develop and manage employee training programs, including leadership development and annual performance reviews.
- Lead safety initiatives, serving as the site's Safety & Risk Management Officer and active member of the safety committee.
- Manage relationships and daily communications with the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union (Local 152).
- Ensure compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies, and federal, state, and local labor laws.
- Supervise and develop two HR team members, providing mentorship, performance feedback, and growth opportunities.
- Represent HR on the business unit leadership team, providing insights and supporting strategic initiatives.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned to support ongoing operations and employee well-being.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR generalist experience within a manufacturing or related environment.
- 2+ years of experience at the management level preferred.
- Experience working in a unionized facility required.
- Prior experience in the food or beverage industry is highly desirable.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to influence and build trust across all levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities; capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Proficient in HRIS, payroll systems, and report writing.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and labor relations practices.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification.
- In-depth understanding of HR functions including employee relations, benefits, training, and compliance.
- Familiarity with union negotiation and grievance resolution processes.
- Knowledge of safety and risk management programs in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- High integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple initiatives.
- Analytical thinker with sound judgment and decision-making ability.
- Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and drive results.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and employee development.
