V2X invites applications for the position of CIO-Polar Operations,for the NSF Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC). This position focuses on providing program-wide IT and communications services in support of scientific research in and around the Antarctic region and additional support locations in California, Chile and New Zealand. This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Set objectives and strategies for the IT department
Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits
Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience
Plan the implementation of new systems and provide guidance to IT professionals and other staff within the organization
Approve purchases of technological equipment and software and establish partnerships with IT providers
Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems) in the organization to ensure optimal performance
Direct and organize IT-related projects
Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways the company can gain competitive advantage
Analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to advise management and suggest actions
Ensures adherence to established standards of individual performance and discipline
Interviews IT&C prospective managers and assists in the selection of new employees
Identifies, studies, and implements cost saving initiatives where applicable
Determines and allocates resources to meet all mission requirements
Ensures the IT & Communications organization is not overly tasked with augmentation duties outside respective functional areas
Plans and directs project execution; monitoring and reporting progress
Must be customer oriented
Approves Special Certification Appointments
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Proven experience as CIO or similar managerial role
Excellent knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure
Background in designing/developing IT systems and planning IT implementation
Solid understanding of data analysis, budgeting and business operations
Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities
A strong strategic and business mindset
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
Must have extensive, thorough knowledge US Governments computer networks and systems.
Possess strong communications, interpersonal, leadership and managerial skills with an extensive background in building and leading a diverse team possessing myriad complementary/non-complementary skills to deliver operational, contractual, and financial results
Must deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner
Must be a US citizen Education / Certifications:
BSC/BA in computer science, engineering or relevant field; MSc/MA will be preferred Experience / Skills:
