Overview
Kadant Johnson is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to develop and improve manufacturing processes that drive safety, quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery. This role works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Accounting to optimize workflow, reduce costs, and support continuous improvements across the facility.
Responsibilities
• Develop and document manufacturing processes, methods, and standard operational procedures
• Evaluate machining processes, tooling, and machine capabilities to improve throughput, reduce operational bottlenecks, and costs
• Support capital equipment evaluations, cost justifications, and process capability development
• Improve flow, reduce setup times, and eliminate waste using Lean/5S/CI principles
• Utilize Excel and MRP (Epicor) for capacity planning, data analysis, revisions, and job costing
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve production challenges
• Design/define tooling, fixtures, and inspection methods in collaboration with Quality, CNC, Fabrication, and Product Fulfillment teams
Qualifications
• Hands-on machining process knowledge (CNC, tooling, feeds/speeds, machining capabilities)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
• Experience with Epicor
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Effective communicator who works well with cross-functional manufacturing teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience in machining, assembly, and/or industrial manufacturing environments
• Continuous improvement and/or Six Sigma experience a plus
