Fremont School District 79 is seeking a full-time General Maintenance Technician.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Building, Grounds, and Safety

WORK SCHEDULE:

12 months, 8 hours per day

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES High School Diploma or equivalent. Proven job-related experience in general building maintenance. Proficiency in multiple trades, strongly preferred: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC. Ability to operate and maintain skilled trade equipment, hand tools, and power tools. Strong understanding and consistent application of all safety practices (e.g., PPE, HazMat, safe lifting, ladder/lift operation). Proficiency with basic computer systems, including email, work order software, and building automation systems (BAS). Strong problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement solutions. Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills; ability to understand and execute complex verbal and written instructions. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse groups of people. Must be able to respond to emergency calls during and after regular work hours. Preferred: Job-related certifications, training, or licenses. POSITION SUMMARY: The General Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of maintenance activities, including general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC tasks. This role is responsible for addressing immediate operational and safety concerns, assisting skilled trades, and ensuring all tools, materials, and equipment are maintained in good working order.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Executes general and skilled maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC/R, kitchen equipment, and building systems repair. Ensures a safe working environment by repairing furniture and various building system components as needed. Performs preventative maintenance and inspections to keep equipment, tools, and systems operating efficiently. Installs, maintains, and repairs classroom/office equipment and facility components (e.g., lighting, HVAC, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical). Maintains accurate records of work orders, repair statuses, and material requisitions. Attends meetings, workshops, and training to share and gather information essential to job responsibilities. Keeps assigned vehicle, tools, and equipment in safe and operational condition. Coordinates with assigned supervisor(s) to ensure projects and work orders are completed efficiently. Responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety and operational concerns. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical Demands: Requires significant physical activity, including:

Lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 75 lbs. Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Some climbing, balancing, and work performed from ladders or at elevated heights. Significant fine finger dexterity. Job duties typically require 45% walking, 45% standing, and 10% sitting. Work Environment:

Work is performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings. Exposure to a range of temperature variations. Potential exposure to risk of injury or illness, mitigated by safety protocols.

SALARY INFORMATION:

$55,000 - $59,000 commensurate with experience 260 Day Work Year Full benefits package Paid time off Employee Assistance Program
