Senior Accountant - $75,000-$80,000 - Hybrid (In-Office Monday-Thursday, Remote Fridays)
Accountants One has been engaged by a trusted non-profit to recruit a
Senior Accountant
to join their team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is designed for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to take ownership of key accounting functions.
The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing month-end close, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accuracy across accounts payable and reconciliations. The right candidate will demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and strong communication skills while supporting both internal and external stakeholders. Non-profit experience is a plus but not required.
Job Duties:
Support and cross-train with Accounts Payable; review and approve invoices for proper coding, accuracy, and compliance
Provide guidance and direction to AP staff as needed
Prepare and post monthly general ledger entries, including accruals and allocations
Record and reconcile monthly cash receipts
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, research variances, and resolve reconciling items
Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements (P&L and Balance Sheet) for multiple branches by the 15th of each month
Review results with Controller and VP of Finance, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities
Assist with quarterly and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met
Analyze financial data and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
3+ years of accounting experience with a focus on month-end close and reconciliations
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial statement preparation
Proficiency with Excel and ERP/accounting systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional, team-oriented approach Benefits:
