Job Description This is a 13-week contract position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Med/Surg and Telemetry care. The role involves providing essential nursing care to orthopedic and trauma patients, particularly in a pre-op and post-op context.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with orthopedic and trauma diagnoses, including total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and respiratory services.
Monitor patient vitals and cardiac rhythms, responding to any emergencies as they arise.
Administer medications, including IV therapy, insulin, and PCA pumps.
Provide wound care management and perform isolation precautions.
Engage in patient education and communication regarding care plans and post-operative recovery.
Schedule The schedule for this position includes night shifts, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with orthopedic and trauma experience required.
BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
Experience with Epic charting system is necessary.
Preferred experience in teaching hospitals and familiarity with trauma levels I and II.
