The ideal Heavy Equipment Mechanic will maintain and repair company equipment from vehicles, cranes, boats, and trailers to small engine repair. Repairs are performed on-site as well as in the shop.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Small engine, vehicle, diesel engine, and boat repair, and general repair on company equipment.
- Maintain Shop and all tools and equipment utilized in repair.
- Inspect equipment regularly.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Small engine, gasoline engine, diesel engine, and boat repair knowledge
- Ability to work with hand tools and power tools
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience required as a mechanic preferably in the construction industry
- Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines as well as small engine repair
- Valid Driver’s License
- 5-7 years’ experience as a mechanic with at least 2 years in marine construction desired
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like.
- Exposure to construction and marine site dangers.
- Ability to work in small and/or enclosed spaces.
- Moving about accomplishing tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools
- Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
- Ability to respond quickly to sounds and noisy environments.
- Able to traverse all areas of the jobsite in all types of weather; this may require walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching.
