An established construction company in the Riverside/Beaumont area is seeking a Controller to drive financial strategy in a growing team.
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team, providing financial insights that guide company decisions and long‑term planning
Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company growth and operational objectives
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and capital planning
Support bonding, banking, and insurance relationships to maintain company financial strength
Accounting & Compliance
Direct and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, job costing, and fixed assets
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and financial reporting; establish, monitor, and enforce strong internal controls
Partner with project managers and operations teams to track job costs, margins, and cash flow on active projects
Implement systems for WIP (Work‑in‑Progress) reporting, earned value tracking, and cost‑to‑complete forecasting; analyze financial performance by project, division, and company‑wide to identify risks and opportunities
Qualifications
Education
– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
Experience
10+ years progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role; strong background in heavy civil construction or related industries (infrastructure, transportation, government contracting)
Proven experience managing bonding, insurance, and compliance for large‑scale projects
Skills
Deep expertise in construction cost accounting, WIP reporting, and project financial analysis
Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across executive and field teams
Proficiency with construction accounting ERP systems and advanced Excel/financial modeling; strategic thinker with ability to balance detail orientation and big‑picture business planning
