Senior Transit Engineer (BRT)
Join AECOM as a Senior Transit Engineer (BRT) based in Columbus, Ohio, reporting to the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Group. The role may also be performed in Chicago, Indianapolis, or Minneapolis.

Job Description
Serve as a team lead, deputy project manager, or technical task leader on planning studies, preliminary design, and final design of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects.
Perform engineering calculations, prepare drawings, and develop visual aids for BRT infrastructure.
Prepare and review multimodal street designs and participate in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
Develop construction cost estimates and estimate technical effort for projects.
Perform quality control review of design calculations and drawings.
Prepare technical specification sections and provide input to engineering budget and schedule development.
Coordinate tasks, mentor entry‑level engineers, and work independently to complete primary design elements with minimal supervision.
Maintain project schedule and budget commitments, ensuring engineering deliverables meet client expectations.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
BA/BS in Civil Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience in transportation design or equivalent.
Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Power InRoads, or Power GeoPak.
Experience preparing engineering design reports and construction drawings for highway, roadway, transit, and/or rail projects.
Collaboration with multi‑disciplinary design teams.
Roadway, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and/or Light Rail Transit (LRT) design experience.
Familiarity with local and national BRT/LRT standards and best practices.
Strong communication and writing skills.
Established relationships with transportation agency clients.
Additional Information
Salary range: $130,000.00 – $190,000.00 per year, based on education, experience, and location.
