To meet staffing needs (every other or every third)
Float:
Yes – travelers are first to float within scope
Call:
Yes – as needed
Systems:
EPIC + OBIX documentation, Pyxis med system, SBAR communication
Support Services:
Pharmacy, Radiology, Respiratory, Rapid Response, Social Services, PT, Phlebotomy, Transportation, Unit Secretary
Provider Coverage:
In‑house 24/7 – Intensivist, Hospitalist, NP, Anesthesiologist, CRNA
Requirements
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (minimum), Fetal Heart Monitoring
Experience:
At least 1 year of recent L&D RN experience
Experience with high‑risk OB patients
Competency in circulating for C‑sections, recovery, triage, fetal monitoring, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and postpartum care
Ratios 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
Skills:
Labor management (EFM, SVE, NSTs, triage, induction, augmentation, preterm labor, VBAC)
OB emergencies: hemorrhage, eclampsia, pre‑eclampsia, malpresentation, multiples, uterine rupture
Circulate/scrub for C‑sections, recovery, and immediate neonatal care (APGAR, resuscitation, thermoregulation)
Postpartum and newborn couplet care
Preferred
AWHONN Advanced certification
Teaching hospital experience
Previous charge RN experience
Trauma Level I/II background
Strong community hospital experience
Unit Notes
Population:
Culturally diverse, high‑risk OB population
Special Procedures:
Cesarean sections, tubal ligation, D&C, cervical cerclage
Postpartum focus:
Breastfeeding/lactation support, baby‑friendly protocols, couplet care
