Program / Administrative Coordinator – Center for Applied Data Science and Analytics (CADSA) The purpose of this position is to serve as the Program / Administrative Coordinator, providing key administrative and programmatic support to CADSA, ensuring the smooth operation of daily activities, and contributing to the center's strategic initiatives.
The coordinator serves as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, supports operational planning, and assists in managing communication, scheduling, and documentation. The Program / Administrative Coordinator will report to the Executive Director of CADSA and will work collaboratively with other CADSA team members and affiliated programs.
Principal Accountabilities
Provide high-level administrative support to the Executive Director and CADSA team.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with Howard University faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
Manage day-to-day administrative tasks, including scheduling, filing, mail distribution, and general office operations.
Track expenditures, maintain financial records, and assist with budget reconciliation and reporting.
Perform data analysis and prepare reports for leadership and key stakeholders.
Provide administrative support to ensure smooth coordination and implementation of program activities.
Assist with program communications, including updating the website, drafting newsletters, and managing announcements.
Manage contact lists for faculty, staff, students, and strategic partners.
Coordinate engagement programs, activities, and events involving faculty, staff, and students.
Help plan and execute public events, workshops, seminars, and symposia.
Coordinate with external partners on collaborative projects and initiatives.
Support the onboarding and scheduling of student workers or temporary staff.
Ensure adherence to university policies and procedures.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Core Competences
Advanced knowledge of office and administrative practices and principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint) and standard office equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse population.
Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with staff, students, faculty, university officials, and the public.
Proven track record of effectively managing complex calendars and scheduling appointments.
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Strong organizational skills to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and perform in a responsible, professional manner.
Ability to plan, organize, and work with others.
Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree and 4‑6 years of relevant professional experience in academic or nonprofit settings. Up to 10 years of directly related work experience may be substituted for educational qualifications. Prior experience supporting a university center or research unit is a plus.
