Job Overview The FAIR Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with AS9102 standards for First Article Inspection Reports. This role requires detailed analysis of engineering documentation, materials, and components to assess their conformance to aerospace specifications and requirements. The ideal candidate works closely with engineering and production teams to facilitate the initial stages of production while ensuring that quality assurance protocols are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation and Review of FAIRs:
Develop, prepare, and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 guidelines.
Review and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to ensure all data collected is accurate and complete.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand product specifications and requirements.
Liaise with suppliers and vendors to gather necessary documentation and ensure compliance with supplier quality agreements.
Inspection and Testing:
Conduct detailed inspections, measurements, and tests on components as per AS9102 requirements to verify that all aspects of the design and manufacturing process meet industry standards.
Document inspection results accurately and formulate corrective action plans for nonconformances.
Compliance Monitoring:
Ensure adherence to company quality management systems and AS9102 regulations throughout the inspection process.
Perform audits and reviews of FAIR processes and documentation as needed.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in root-cause analysis and problem-solving activities related to failed inspections or nonconformities.
Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerospace quality assurance, particularly in First Article Inspection processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of AS9102 and aerospace standards.
Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) is a plus.
Certifications:
AS9102 Auditor Certification.
Quality Management System Auditing Certification (e.g., ISO 9001) is a plus.
