Paralegal I . The Paralegal I will provide full clerical support for a group of Prosecuting Attorneys in the Litigation Section of the Civil Division and performs a vital role in the work of the Department. The Paralegal I will work closely with the Paralegal II to prepare lawsuits for litigation, including managing electronic discovery, trial preparation, and summarization of medical and billing records. 40-hour work week, typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hybrid schedule with a minimum of 2 in-office days per week, subject to business needs and a telecommuting agreement. New hires may be required to work in office three days a week for the first six months. Salary:

Range 49 - $36.59 (step one) to $46.39 (step ten) hourly Union Membership:

Use multiple sources and technologies to research people, property, case law, federal/state law, legislative history, and ordinances; request information from opposing attorneys, witnesses, the Clerk’s office, and public agencies Coordinate cases; update attorneys, clients, and other parties on case status and explain legal programs, policies, procedures, and consequences Meet federal and state deadlines and statute-based processes; maintain court calendar dates and deadlines and calendaring systems Draft, proofread, and edit pleadings, memos, complaints, answers, briefs, motions, and other legal documents in proper legal format Receive callers in person and by phone Coordinate timely filing and service of pleadings and documents in Washington State and federal courts Schedule and attend meetings, trainings, and provide staff coverage Maintain and update the case management system Coordinate depositions and witness interviews Perform other duties as assigned Actively participate in PAO equity work and attend equity trainings Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Civil litigation experience required Working knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures Excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading, and organizational skills Strong attention to detail Keyboarding proficiency and accuracy Working knowledge of general office procedures and administration Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Pro, DocuSign, document management software, and internet search engines Strong communication skills and ability to follow complex instructions and complete tasks with attention to detail Excellent time-management skills to handle multiple tasks with tight deadlines Ability to use independent judgment, exercise initiative, and anticipate needs Prioritize work to meet court deadlines Maintain confidentiality and professionalism Team-oriented and able to work independently Provide excellent customer service with diverse populations Ability to adapt to changing workload demands Demonstrate timely, reliable attendance and receptiveness to feedback Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Demonstrate innovation, problem-solving, and advocacy to support justice Engage with diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds Active participation in PAO equity work and support for the Race, Equity, and Social Justice policy Supplemental Information
