About the Role Community of Hope is seeking a compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team of healthcare providers in delivering excellent patient care while ensuring smooth clinical operations. This position is located at our Conway Health and Resource Center in SW, Washington, DC.

What You’ll Do

Prepare patients for examination and treatment by taking the patient’s history and vital signs.

Supply providers with necessary forms and information.

Prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments according to policy and procedure manual and/or as instructed by provider; clean exam and treatment rooms after patient encounter.

Provide nursing care to all patients including, but not limited to, EKGs, wound dressing, assisting providers with minor procedures, and administering nebulizer treatment to asthmatic patients as ordered by providers.

Clean, prepare, and autoclave instruments used during procedures.

Observe, record, and report patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physician.

Perform vaccine and medication administration on patients of all ages when ordered by a provider.

Respond to patient messages and prescription refill requests.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements Must-Haves

Completed Medical Assistant Diploma from an approved nationally accredited program.

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) license from an approved nationally accredited association (AAMA or NHA) or MA Certification accepted without diploma if experience requirement (minimum one year) was met for the certification.

Valid BLS Certificate.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Ability to work in a non-profit environment.

Participation in appropriate continuing medical education.

Proof of vaccinations is required. COH will consider requests for reasonable accommodations for anyone who cannot be vaccinated for a religious or medical reason, subject to applicable law.

Nice-to-Haves

2 years experience in a medical office practice or hospital setting, preferred. Experience in Primary Care practice.

Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Commitment to working with underserved populations.
