Job Description
KIPP Miami seeks an experienced High School English Language Arts Teacher to design and deliver a rigorous, college‑preparatory English Literature and Language Arts program. This teacher is responsible for the academic, socio‑emotional growth and development of students by creating a learning experience that provides opportunities for each student to reach their full potential and gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of applicable English/Literature curriculum.

Key Roles and Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and teach a rigorous, standards‑aligned English/LA curriculum (including Honors and advanced pathways) that meets Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards and Miami‑Dade advanced program expectations.
Execute a designated program of teaching across all key stages.
Create, internalize, modify and prepare consistently rigorous and engaging lesson plans in accordance with academic curriculum set forth by school.
Differentiate lesson plans to suit the needs of all students and student groups.
Analyze data to responsively teach and drive instructional outcomes.
Employ the use of basic behavior management techniques as well as school wide proactive/reactive discipline measures and interventions when necessary.
Participate in campus wide literacy initiative related to independent and guided reading.
Provide oversight and management of an assigned student cohort.
Assist in the planning and coordination of content based and campus wide culture trips.
Perform additional day to day responsibilities such as but not limited to: lunch, arrival, and dismissal duties.
Assessment & Data
Develop assessments and performance tasks aligned to state benchmarks and advanced programs; use data to provide targeted support and track mastery.
Prepare students for state exams, college‑readiness benchmarks, and advanced program entry points (AP, AICE, IB, Dual Enrollment).
Advanced Programs & Pathways
Collaborate with the Academy Teacher to ensure vertical alignment with higher‑level English courses, including AP, AICE, IB, and Dual Enrollment.
Provide students with access to advanced critical thinking and writing, ensuring equitable pathways to AP English, Dual Enrollment and IB courses.
CTE Integration
Complete required CTE coursework and state examinations within the prescribed timeline (see Qualifications) and maintain all related credentials.
Culture & Family Partnership
Model and uphold KIPP Miami’s Heartbeat Principles in all interactions; create an inclusive, purposeful classroom culture with high expectations and joy.
Partner with families through transparent progress reporting, student‑led conferences, and proactive communication.
Professionalism
Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities, content teams, and advanced programs alignment.
Contribute to a school‑wide culture of continuous improvement through coaching cycles, peer feedback, and shared best practices.
Qualifications Required Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree is required
A degree in English, Journalism, Communication, Teaching or related field is preferred.
At least two (2) years of full‑time high school teaching experience in English/Language Arts or writing (required).
Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous instruction and achieve measurable student growth in teaching English.
Valid Florida Educator Certificate (or eligibility) in English (6–12). (Candidates pursuing reciprocity or temporary certification must be eligible under Florida statutes.)
Commitment to complete required CTE coursework and pass state CTE examinations relevant to assigned pathways within the first 24 months of employment (tuition/fees may be eligible for reimbursement per KIPP Miami policy).
Strong proficiency with instructional technology and data‑driven decision‑making.
Satisfactory background check and fingerprint clearance.
Experience integrating CTE content and preparing students for industry certifications.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at computer or working at desk and significant fine finger dexterity.
Often required to stand and sit.
Walk frequently and climb stairs.

Additional Information Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this role is $55,550-$62,250, **** commensurate with experience.
