Senior Electrical Engineer 1 – Grid Join to apply for the Senior Electrical Engineer 1 – Grid role at Sargent & Lundy.

Job Overview Position offers opportunity to work in a project team environment with other engineers and designers involved in detailed electrical design and project management of high voltage substation projects.

Responsibilities

Take an active role in project conceptualization, work planning, and execution.

Investigate, troubleshoot, and solve a wide variety of electrical engineering issues.

Prepare reports presenting technical and project information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements.

Share knowledge with other experienced engineers through S&L’s systems and Communities of Practice.

Possibly travel to client sites as needed.

Work Arrangement Hybrid arrangement: three days a week in the office, two days remote. Relocation package available depending on location.

Qualifications

BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.

5+ years experience in design of medium voltage power systems.

Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects under budget and time constraints.

Experience tracking project information such as schedules and expenditures, preparing status reports and client interface.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Proficiency with MS Office applications.

Valued but Not Required

3+ years experience in design of substations 138 kV and above.

Experience preparing substation grounding, direct stroke shielding, battery & charger sizing calculations.

Physical layout and protection & controls experience.

Experience developing substation single‑line diagrams, relaying & metering diagrams, DC schematic diagrams, substation plans & sections, grounding plans, etc.

Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE/NEMA standards and National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI‑C2).

PE license.

AutoCAD experience.

Compensation Range $82,380.00 – $125,860.00

Transparency Statement Disclosures comply with regulations; includes base salary or hourly rate and comprehensive benefits. Eligibility for discretionary bonus.
