Thermal Analysis Engineer - Orion Passive Thermal Control Systems Join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

Perform and guide analysis efforts to:

Simulate and evaluate performance of passive thermal control systems for future NASA vehicles and habitats including the Orion spacecraft and vehicles capable of lunar or Mars missions.

Develop thermal models of space hardware or test equipment using Thermal Desktop analysis software and first-principal models with standard desktop software.

Correlate thermal models to flight and test results.

Assisting in day-to-day activities including internal NASA JSC task and work package planning, technical evaluations, hardware development and verification, reviewing and providing input related to products and documentation to partners and programs.

Work to provide solutions to problems that arise during hardware development and on-orbit operation phases. Assisting in the identification of anomalies and providing engineering recommendations, as required, for resolution of associated issues.

Participation in various aspects of integration of the Orion vehicle systems and vehicles Orion docks with, including technical reviews, operation plans, review of contractor provided data to close technical requirements, including waivers and exceptions.

Provide passive thermal control guidance supporting a broad range of inter-disciplinary – development, design, test, and verification activities, including Program boards, panels, working groups, problem resolution teams, and other technical forums to ensure hardware performance meets all specified requirements.

Support testing and inspection activities at vehicle build site:

Inspection activities require experience with PTCS related hardware installs as well as proactive work ethic to work with floor technicians to identify hardware issues which are identified and which are not yet identified or missed.

Proactively work with people across various LM and NASA sites and orgs to resolve test, hardware install and integration issues while briefing Orion senior management on impact to schedule or changes in flight response.

Perform other duties as assigned.
