Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager of Employee Relations. In this role, the successful candidate will cultivate positive employee relations by assisting in the development and administration of employee relations activities at the Medical Center. Responsibilities include providing professional assistance to leadership and employees regarding complex employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with policies, collective bargaining agreements, federal, state and local laws, responding to employee concerns, conducting investigations, and designing programs to facilitate positive relationships with non-union employees and unions representing employees.
Job Responsibilities
Provide advice, information, guidance, and assistance to leadership in the administration of policies and procedures, performance assessment, contract interpretation, disciplinary and grievance issues, including corrective action for a variety of departments.
Respond to questions and problems regarding policy interpretation and implementation; investigate issues, gather data, and recommend consistent, fair outcomes. Interpret collective bargaining agreements for union employees.
Review positions and arguments for arbitration cases; prepare recommendations and settlement terms. Assist legal counsel with arbitration and third‑party proceedings.
Investigate charges or complaints filed with third‑party agencies, conduct investigations, and assist legal counsel in responding to complaints and proceedings including EEOC and NLRB charges. Represent the organization at conferences and hearings.
Research, develop, design, and present training programs and sessions in all areas of Employee Relations.
Participate in negotiations with Local 1199 SEIU, Local One Security Officers Union, Local 32BJ SEIU, and Local 810 Teamsters; identify and research potential issues, analyze proposals, and prepare counter‑proposals.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to Employee Relations; maintain awareness of regulatory requirements, interpret legislation, review decisions and recommendations, and initiate changes in response to deficiencies.
Maintain accurate information on work output within Salesforce and the status of assigned grievances and arbitrations within OnBase and Grievance Log.
Minimum Qualifications Must have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resources Management or Labor Relations. Minimum three years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least three years in Employee and Labor Relations.
Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Human Resources or related fields.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
