The Marlin Alliance is seeking a talented and experienced

Model-Based Systems Engineer

to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MBSE principles, extensive knowledge of SysML and UML, and a minimum of 3 years of hands‑on experience applying MBSE methodologies. A Secret Clearance is required for this role.

Active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI clearance highly preferred

Duties and Responsibilities

Apply modeling to support a system or system of systems (SoS) requirements, design, analysis, verification, and validation activities throughout the acquisition lifecycle phases.

Manage/coordinate information and resources to meet digital thread‑related objectives and implement a model‑based culture.

Utilize model data support to enable the creation of a digital thread across engineering disciplines (e.g., cyber, configuration management).

Apply MBSE principles and practices to define, design, and document complex systems and architectures using SysML and UML.

Develop, maintain, and update system models that capture requirements, behaviors, and interactions, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability.

Create and maintain system architecture models that meet project objectives, standards, and performance requirements.

Support verification and validation efforts, including test planning, test case development, and test execution.

Generate clear system documentation, including design, interface specifications, and integration plans.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of system models and engineering artifacts.

Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers on MBSE principles and tools.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations research, or related sciences requiring advanced math.

Minimum of 4 years of practical experience in Model‑Based Systems Engineering.

Experience with cross‑platform collaborative MBSE/digital environments (e.g., MagicDraw, Cameo, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rational Rhapsody).

Knowledge of DoDAF/UAF architecture frameworks.

Experience providing enterprise architecture support for MBSE, including data structure and tool integration.

Experience tracking cybersecurity implementation throughout acquisition lifecycle and providing risk mitigations.

Experience developing engineering technical reports, analyses, briefings, and meeting minutes related to SoS and capability analysis.

Experience with RMF, SETR, cyber risk, and cybersecurity readiness.

Experience designing enterprise architectures addressing system of systems cybersecurity.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler or MagicDraw.

Familiarity with DoDAF, UPDM, or related architecture frameworks.

Knowledge of systems simulation and modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).

Understanding of software development and integration processes.

Certification in MBSE or related field is a plus.

Salary: $85,000 – $150,000
