About the Location Collaborative Work Environment At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). About the Job SUMMARY

The Lead Analyst position within the Store Reporting Solutions team is responsible for developing data-driven insights by solving complex data problems across several source-systems and leading in the design, delivery and innovation of best-in-class reporting distribution to 1,650+ stores, home office executives and business leaders. This position will require cross-functional collaboration throughout the organization, both at the Home-Office and throughout the Field, as the primary touchpoint of end-to-end delivery of robust systems/datasets that ultimately produce actionable, standardized and visually appealing reporting. In addition, the ideal candidate will identify, define, communicate, analyze, prioritize, test, and refine the reporting requirements and lead, with Director alignment, the IT/IS workflows and final product delivery to the business.

The role will be the ‘primary/lead’ for our various internal stakeholders – business partners and IT/IS teams – to ensure successful translation of those requirements into solutions. The candidate should possess the ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team, in a fast-changing environment while participating in a variety of projects, serving as the business lead for prioritized, data solutions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Business Intelligence (BI) Development (40%)

Seek out, communicate and lead technical solutions with the enterprise data warehouse team(s); identify gaps between business requirements and current reporting/data solutions and recommend options.

Create, modify and improve the enterprise BI metric portfolio; continuous improvement will require full discovery of root system issues, complex mapping of systems/tables and business introduction to advanced metric builds (smart metrics in MicroStrategy).

Leverage & extract big data, articulate global architecture/mapping, and have a passion for learning/performance data queries that translate to big data engineering – design, code, test (SQL, Python, R, etc).

Primary business operator – complex business questions will drive the candidate to continuously maintain, re‑design and elevate BI reporting tools such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Thoughtspot, etc; MicroStrategy preferred.

Steer complex reporting discovery into insightful solutions and business processes; clarify results and persuade leaders and partners to adopt and feel comfortable with new information.

Reporting & Analytics (40%)

Define, measure, analyze, implement and control (DMAIC) a portfolio of store reporting, focused on understanding, supporting and improving overall relationships with our internal (Home‑Office & Field Partners) and external customers.

Influence business leaders to accept and better understand delivery, technology and alternative views that elevate operations.

User Acceptance Testing: comprehend, drive and validate BI‑reporting metrics, attributes and objects; clearly communicate data and/or object errors that need to be corrected by IS partners – follow through to resolution.

Take business needs then persuade & elevate IT operations via the usual data stack, data storage, and translation of that data to reporting (ETL).

Translate technical specifications back down to business users and vice versa.

Lead dotted‑line, IS team builds in order to deliver enterprise‑ready reporting solutions.

Be passionate about learning agility; engage and collaborate on the development of a vision and roadmap to continuously take reporting solutions to the next level.

Understand and apply IT lingo and a team‑approach to end‑to‑end reporting (big data, ETL, mapping/architecture and report build).

Turn standard data into visualizations and elevated user‑interface applications.

Resolve issues quickly and accept responsibility for resolution.

Build strong relationships with Home‑Office and Field partners, actively communicating to identify and build analytical capabilities, maintaining best practices to develop and support high quality data standards and analysis.

Manage time, prioritize work, multi‑task across many assignments.

Production/Project Management (20%)

Support Director, and often VPs/SVPs, on key projects, analysis, and modeling/report development including ad‑hoc work that may require independent or cross‑functional collaboration.

Act as point‑person for week‑to‑week progress, testing and delivery of our dotted‑line IT partners; take leadership strategy and drive action in IT delivery.

Gain understanding of business operations in detail; then apply organizational knowledge to current and future deliverables, data enhancements and reporting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No direct supervisory responsibility.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY This position has no budget responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college or university in Analytics, Systems, Business, Finance, Statistics, Economics or related field and +7 years related experience working in finance or analytical reporting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Retail experience preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to interpret key financial and statistical data.

Ability to synthesize multiple data sets of varying formats into a coherent story and effectively communicate at various organization levels.

Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.

Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Access).

Strong working knowledge of MicroStrategy and/or BI and advanced programming applications for data manipulation.
