Assistant Liquor Store Manager
Job Purpose Assists in the management of the daily operations in the liquor department. Assumes the role of team leader when the department manager is off and performs all managerial tasks accordingly. Increases customer confidence and loyalty by promoting and executing consistent and compliant operating conditions. Provides fresh and appealing products, courteous, knowledgeable and prompt service. Executes merchandising plans as outlined in department planners, toolkits or event packs while maintaining merchandising standards, product levels, shrink, and sales trends. Monitors and controls supply expenses, manages cash control, sales and cash items, and records for the liquor store. Supervises, trains, and develops team members on performance of their job and provides coaching as needed.
Essential Responsibilities Service (60%)
Creates an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated, increasing confidence and loyalty.
Ensures the department is merchandised per plan and maintained for in-stock conditions.
Delivers daily conditions that meet the company’s expectations for freshness, quality and value.
Trains department associates on inventory/stocking and computer assisted ordering.
Offers assistance in finding or suggesting product selection.
Leadership (20%)
Assists in promoting trust and respect among associates by collaborating, promoting teamwork, and communicating information.
Assists in establishing goals for merchandising, sales and profits and empowers the team to meet or exceed the goals.
Assists in managing schedules to ensure tasks are completed in a cadence that ensures the highest levels of customer service during peak hours.
Adheres to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
Financial (10%)
Completes daily and weekly administrative tasks (communications, online training, scheduling, pricing changes, orders, receiving products, etc.).
Maintains awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and reports discrepancies.
Reviews/inspects products for quality and freshness and takes appropriate action.
Assists in planning and organizing the inventory process.
Ensures product is held at the proper temperature per food safety guidelines and retains documentation of temperature logs.
Compliance/Safety (10%)
Ensures company standards for safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation and productivity are maintained.
Adheres to compliance requirements (USDA, COOL, DOA) and executes product recalls and withdrawals timely.
Reinforces safety programs, inspects for unsafe conditions, reports and assists with remediation.
Reports all safety risk or issues, and illegal activity including robbery, theft or fraud.
Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations, and cultivates a culture of safety within the store.
Ensures equipment is in good repair; reports and assists with remediation of safety hazards.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Education:
High School / GED
Language Requirements:
English (required), Spanish (preferred)
Relevant Experience:
0-3 years supervisory experience minimum
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Must be 21 years of age
Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain same
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
Strong customer service skills
Exceptional interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
Knowledge of basic math
Ability to handle stressful situations
Proficient with computer applications used in effectively operating the department
Shift(s): Varied shifts, includes three (3) to four (4) evening prime-time shifts each week.
