Accounting Manager
to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small, collaborative team.
This is a contract-to-hire position reporting directly to the Controller and working closely with the CFO of a well-established national organization headquartered in Denver. The company offers a flexible hybrid schedule and an inclusive, people-focused culture with exceptional benefits once converted.
Key Responsibilities
Lead daily accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, Payroll Accounting, and Cash Management.
Supervise and mentor a team of 4–5 accounting professionals.
Oversee month‑end close process and drive continuous improvement.
Prepare and review reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports.
Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with department heads to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.
Strengthen and maintain internal controls within AP, Payroll, and GL.
Utilize NetSuite and Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) to streamline accounting processes.
Participate in special projects to enhance accounting efficiency and reporting structure.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years of people management
2+ years of NetSuite experience
2+ years serving as the primary audit liaison
Strong background in month‑end close and reconciliations
Experience with internal controls for AP and Payroll
Intermediate to advanced Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
Experience in organizations with multiple revenue streams
Preferred
Nonprofit or association experience
Experience improving accounting processes or close timelines
