The Surgical Services Registered Nurse Clinician is an experienced healthcare professional who provides safe, effective nursing care to dialysis and ICU patients, adapts to changing circumstances, and champions evidence-based practice across interdisciplinary teams.

Description Operational hours: Mon‑Sat 0730‑2000 or beyond with rotated calls at night and on Saturday and Sunday. 12 stations (8 on main side of street, 4 in Tower). Dialyze patients from every unit, perform ICU dialysis, maintain nurse‑patient ratios of 1:2 in dialysis and 1:1 in ICUs. Perform primary telemetry, care for VAD patients, share peritoneal dialysis responsibility, collaborate with nephrologists, and lead quality initiatives.
Responsibilities
Deliver safe, effective nursing care using the nursing process.
Perform thorough patient assessments and recognize the impact of care on outcomes.
Develop and implement patient care plans, incorporating patient and family input and adjusting as needed.
Document care accurately and efficiently in electronic and physical records.
Identify patient and family learning needs, recommending appropriate resources.
Recognize cultural differences and individualize care accordingly.
Delegate appropriately using the Synergy Model of Care.
Work effectively with the interdisciplinary team, patients, and families.
Assume Charge Nurse responsibilities when assigned.
Assist in orienting staff and students in the absence of a designated preceptor.
Demonstrate strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
Identify the need for policy revisions based on evidence‑based research.
Engage in professional growth and apply the Synergy Model for Care in practice.
Collect, report, and analyze data to improve patient care and meet organizational standards.
Participate in surveys, interviews, and other methods to identify and resolve areas for improvement.
Maintain required points and contact hours per the clinical lattice PLAN system.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with 12 months of recent nursing experience within the past five years or recent completion of a re‑entry nursing program.
OR Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with a minimum of 2 years of recent nursing experience within the past five years, with specified exemptions for LPNs and current Emory LPNs.
A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing.
BLS certification.
ACLS certification may be required for certain departments post‑hire.
Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty.
