Position Summary Applicants must be Colorado residents or be able to relocate to Colorado within a month of starting employment with University of Colorado System Administration. The University of Colorado system administration includes 19 units that provide essential services to CU’s campuses in Aurora, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver, as well as the Office of the President. This role reports to the Director of Public Records Compliance and supports the Office of University Counsel.

Where You Will Work Hybrid schedule: some days from home and some days in office; after training may work more remotely within Colorado.

Duties & Responsibilities

Support the Director of Public Records Compliance in ensuring compliance with CORA and other similar laws.

Receive CORA requests; evaluate statutory compliance; coordinate with constituents, campus legal counsel, and other offices to collect responsive records; perform necessary legal redactions; respond to requestors.

Identify when IT resources are required for request fulfillment and coordinate with IT personnel and the Litigation IT Systems Administrator.

Develop and implement processes, business practices, and control mechanisms to review operations, modify procedures, and increase efficiency.

Develop strategies to ensure compliance with CORA regulations, monitor and assess compliance, and recommend improvements.

Participate in CORA Stakeholder committee meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Assist with responses to subpoenas.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (may substitute education on a year-for-year basis).

Five (5) years of professional experience related to technical or administrative duties, research and evaluation, and/or within the related functional area.

Preferred Qualifications

Post-baccalaureate or related degree.

JD, MSL, or paralegal certificate.

Seven (7) years of equivalent experience.

One (1) year working in statutory or regulatory compliance, preferably with public records requests.

Experience with CORA, FERPA, FOIA, or similar statutes.

Experience in higher education.

Experience with an e-discovery platform; Relativity preferred.

Experience writing search queries and using Boolean operators.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Solid understanding of CORA regulations.

Sense of urgency and ability to interact with customers professionally.

Excellent written communication and confidentiality.

Ability to work independently under pressure and manage multiple tasks.

Pattern recognition and use of templates for efficient communication.

Strong interpersonal, collaboration, organizational, analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
