Working Title: Assistant/Associate Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice of Teacher Education.
The Division of Teacher Residency and Education of the University of South Dakota’s School of Education invites applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) or Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (non‑tenure track) of Teacher Education position. This on‑campus nine‑month position may include summer teaching. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate coursework across the teacher education curriculum and is expected to develop courses for face‑to‑face, online, and other distance‑learning modalities.
Tenure‑track faculty are expected to contribute to teaching, research, and service. All faculty mentor students in and out of the classroom. The teacher education programs are CAEP accredited.
Salary is commensurate with qualifications; the starting salary is $60,000, plus benefits. Possibility of summer employment for additional compensation.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in teacher education, including face‑to‑face, online, and distance‑learning modalities.
Engage in research, scholarship, and professional writing, including publication (for tenure‑track faculty).
Provide mentorship and advising to students in and outside of the classroom.
Serve on department, faculty, and university committees.
Collaborate with Division faculty to support program strengths and student needs.
Participate in service to the profession, university, and community.
Qualifications
Earned doctorate in a Teacher Education discipline (e.g., Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, etc.) from an accredited institution by August 22 2026.
Evidence of outstanding teaching and/or strong potential for excellence in teaching.
Evidence of scholarship and research with potential for publication (tenure‑track); strong potential for professional service.
Authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship not available.
