Position Overview The Division of Kinesiology and Sport Management at the University of South Dakota invites applications for two full‑time faculty positions beginning in Fall 2026. The candidates will serve in Exercise Science and Sport Management and may be appointed at the assistant or associate professor rank, either on the tenure track or as a professor of practice.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in exercise science or sport management and related areas.
Conduct and publish scholarly research.
Mentor students and supervise undergraduate and graduate research.
Participate in curriculum development and provide service to the university and profession.
Qualifications
Earned doctorate in exercise science, sport management, or a closely related field (e.g., exercise physiology, sport science, kinesiology, strength and conditioning).
Evidence of effective teaching and scholarly productivity.
ABD candidates will be considered with completion of degree by August 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses such as exercise physiology, kinesiology, exercise testing and prescription, theory of strength and conditioning, research methods, sport marketing, budgeting and finance, sport facility and event management, and sport law. ACSM or NSCA certification for exercise science.
Salary and Compensation Salary is commensurate with qualifications. This position is a nine‑month appointment with the possibility of summer employment for additional compensation.
Authorization to Work Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available for these positions.
