Fleet Operations & Maintenance
Manage a fleet of specialized utility vehicles including bucket trucks, digger derricks, pole trailers, and service pickups.
Schedule and track preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs to ensure operational readiness.
Maintain fleet tracking systems to monitor vehicle usage, downtime, and service logs.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with DOT/FMCSA, OSHA, ANSI, and utility industry standards. Maintain accurate records for inspections, CDL driver qualifications, registrations, and insurance. Oversee implementation and enforcement of company safety policies and operational procedures. Conduct regular audits of vehicle inspection logs and maintenance records. Driver & Crew Education
Train field personnel on: Pre-trip and post-trip truck inspections, especially for bucket and digger derrick units. Proper use and inspection of outriggers, booms, and safety harness systems. Recognition and mitigation of job site and roadway hazards. Defensive driving techniques, especially in urban and remote job locations. Provide onboarding training for new drivers and refresher courses for current team members. Fleet Strategy & Budget
Track fleet operating costs and identify cost-saving opportunities (e.g., idle reduction, route efficiency). Manage fleet acquisition/disposal planning based on project load and asset lifecycle. Technology & Reporting
Utilize fleet management and GPS tracking software (e.g., Fleetio, Geotab, Samsara). Generate regular reports on vehicle utilization, downtime, driver safety performance, and fuel consumption. Responsible for quarterly IFTA reporting. Responsible for WEX account: Ordering fuel cards for new and existing equipment. Issuing PINs for all field employees. Reviewing monthly WEX account; checking for fuel charge discrepancies. Expectations & KPIs:
Fleet Availability:
Maintain >95% uptime across all essential fleet assets. Safety Training:
Conduct quarterly training sessions on inspections, safe operation, and defensive driving. Compliance Performance:
Zero DOT or OSHA violations during inspections/audits. Accident Reduction:
Reduce preventable vehicle and equipment incidents by X% year-over-year. Inspection Compliance:
100% daily pre/post-trip inspection logs completed and submitted by drivers. Specialty Equipment Uptime:
