Freelance Email/SMS Marketing Strategist

About the RoleWere looking for experienced Email/SMS Marketing Strategists to join our freelance contractor pool for upcoming lifecycle and retention projects. Youll work with a range of ecommerce and B2B clients, helping design and execute automated customer journeys that drive engagement and revenue. This is a project-based, remote contractor role suited for professionals who are hands-on in Klaviyo and comfortable balancing campaign execution with strategic optimization. Some engagements may require collaboration with our design, strategy, and analytics teams to align campaigns with broader marketing goals.What Youll DoBuild, test, and QA email and SMS campaigns in Klaviyo (and occasionally other ESPs).Set up, maintain, and optimize automation flows such as Welcome, Abandoned Cart, Post-Purchase, and Winback.Apply email marketing best practices to ensure campaigns are mobile-friendly, accessible, and visually polished.Prepare and optimize creative assets using Figma or Canva; partner with designers and copywriters to bring campaigns to nduct A/B tests on subject lines, creative, and timing, and deliver performance reports with actionable llaborate with senior strategists and account teams to align campaign execution with client goals.Support ongoing list management, segmentation, and subscriber growth initiatives.What Youll Bring25+ years of hands-on experience in Email and SMS marketing, ideally within an agency or ecommerce environment.Deep knowledge of Klaviyo, including automations, segmentation, and deliverability optimization.Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate performance metrics into strategy.Experience preparing and QAing creative assets in Figma and Canva.Excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple short-term projects simultaneously.Proactive, self-sufficient, and comfortable working remotely within tight timelines.Bonus PointsExperience with Postscript, Attentive, or Twilio for SMS automation.Familiarity with Shopify, GA4, or HubSpot integrations.Strong design or copy sensibility for refining creative elements.Prior experience supporting Black Friday/Cyber Monday or other high-volume ecommerce campaigns.Why Youll Love Working With UsAt ZGM, we lead with strategy, communicate with transparency, and value collaboration across every project.
