Principal/Sr Principal Network Engineer
based out of
San Diego, CA . As a Principal/Sr Principal Network Engineer you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our enterprise‑wide digital transformation. What You’ll Get To Do
Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment
Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies into the program’s systems
Implement engineering changes to the system as required
Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end‑to‑end system architectures
Responsible for completing the network configurations and coordinating with peers, SMEs, and government engineers
Occasional travel may be required
Basic Qualifications for Principal Network Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; OR 3 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; OR 1 year of experience with a STEM PhD degree
Additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection
Understanding of IP4 and IP6 network design, including subnetting and protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
Understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally Cisco IOS/IOS‑XE)
Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality‑of‑service, VLANs, and multicast
Familiar with network management protocols, such as SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Basic Qualifications For Sr Principal Network Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience; OR 6 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; OR 4 years of experience with a STEM PhD degree
Additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection
Understanding of IP4 and IP6 network design, including subnetting and protocols such as BGP, OSPF and EIGRP
Understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally Cisco IOS/IOS‑XE)
Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality‑of‑service, VLANs, and multicast
Familiar with network management protocols, such as SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS
Ability to travel 10% of the time
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
DoD 8570 security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent
Professional certification specific to networking (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent)
Familiar with network management applications like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE
Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs
Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMware configuration and troubleshooting
Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures
Experience with tactical/military radio networks such as Common Data Link (CDL) and ANW2
Experience with (MIL) SATCOM equipment and services
Experience with Cisco Unified Communications/VoIP and VTC
Experience with Cisco Modelling Labs (CML) or Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL)
Proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio
Active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance
