Description Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Systems Network Architect to support the Sentinel program. This role will support the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production, and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities, and associated infrastructure.
What You Will Do
Execute a comprehensive network strategy aligned with the organization’s goals, focusing on digital engineering, digital thread, and advanced analytics across weapon system design from initial development through sustainment.
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable network infrastructure, including network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection per DoD requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and business leaders to align data initiatives with program goals.
Develop and enable program network risk management processes in concurrence with program risk management.
Maintain knowledge of current and emerging industry and DoD trends and technologies in network frameworks, management, and analytics and ensure proper utilization where applicable.
Mentor and support building a high‑performing network team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Serve as a thought leader, representing the company at industry forums, conferences, and with government and commercial partners.
Display strong stakeholder management skills, including presenting solutions to senior leadership.
Lead organizational change and ensure successful adoption of new technologies and best practices.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Lead high‑performing teams, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development.
Implement DevOps frameworks for network teams, improving operational efficiency and reducing time‑to‑insight.
Drive company‑wide network strategy and innovation, aligning technical goals with business objectives.
Influence and gain buy‑in from key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and successful project delivery.
Manage network governance, security, modeling, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
Provide experience in understanding, managing, and integrating business or DoD Program inputs and interfaces across a variety of tool sets and data sources.
Network architecture development with understanding of network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection per DoD requirements.
Knowledge in IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP subnetting and protocols, TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, and SD‑WAN.
Knowledge in network management protocols such as SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.
Knowledge of virtualization technologies including virtual software, machines, networks, and appliances.
Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, and Group Policy.
Knowledge of cyber products for systems: logging, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, patching systems, anti‑virus, and related processes.
Knowledge of RMF, STIG, and requirements development from control listings.
Knowledge of all areas of network and software interconnections and interfacing: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.
Knowledge of COMSEC equipment.
Understanding of the OSI model and its impact on network architecture design.
Basic Qualifications
Principal or Senior Principal Systems Network Architect experience: 5–8 years with a bachelor’s degree in STEM; 3–6 years with a master’s; 1–4 years with a PhD.
Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last six years.
Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances within a reasonable amount of time.
2+ years of experience in IP4 and IPv6 network design, including subnetting and protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, QoS, and SD‑WAN.
1–2 years of experience architecting and realizing scalable, secure, and cost‑effective network platforms.
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in data engineering, data science, computer science, cloud computing, or a related field.
Active TS/SCI or TS with SCI eligibility at time of application.
Security+ certified.
Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional).
Knowledge of advanced networking concepts such as VPC peering, VPNs, and load balancing.

Salary Range $110,300.00 – $165,500.00 (primary range) / $137,400.00 – $206,000.00 (optional range)
