Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager
The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, occupational health, safety, and fire protection programs across PCBA and system assembly manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, fostering a safe, healthy, sustainable, and compliant workplace tailored to high-volume electronics manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain EH&S programs for PCBA and system assembly processes, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.
Ensure adherence to environmental, health, safety, and loss prevention standards in soldering, chemical handling, ESD control, and high-power test operations.
Monitor changes in legislation and industry standards to maintain ongoing compliance and operational readiness.
Conduct risk assessments focused on manufacturing hazards (chemical use, solder reflow ovens, press‑fit equipment, system‑level testing, lifting operations, etc.).
Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain incident reporting processes and documentation.
Deliver tailored EH&S training for electronics assembly environments (chemical handling, PPE, machine guarding, fire safety, ESD, ergonomics).
Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, safety campaigns, and behavioural safety programs.
Conduct safety audits, site inspections, and walk‑throughs to identify and resolve issues.
Maintain required EH&S documentation, including SDS/MSDS, chemical inventories, incident logs, and training records.
Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, actively participating in internal and external audits.
Lead the preparation and execution of EH&S action plans specific to electronics manufacturing operations, coordinate fire safety inspections, lifting equipment checks, and hazardous waste disposal compliance activities.
Develop and maintain Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plans, organise emergency drills, and ensure department preparedness.
Partner with engineering, operations, quality, and facilities to integrate safety into daily PCBA and system assembly practices, collaborating with contractors, vendors, and regulators to support EH&S objectives.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
3–5 years of EH&S experience in electronics manufacturing, PCBA, or system assembly environments.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and related compliance frameworks.
Demonstrated experience in hazard identification, chemical safety, and manufacturing risk mitigation.
Excellent organisational, project management, and time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent credential.
Advanced degree in Safety, Environmental Management, Fire Protection, or related discipline.
Internal auditor experience with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 management systems.
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical problem‑solving skills.
Experience managing EH&S in high‑volume PCBA or system‑level assembly operations.
Pay Range: $95,000 - $120,000
