Full-time, hourly, non-exempt, $21-22 per hour

Job Description:

The Youth Health and Wellness Educator (YHWE) is a member of the Community Integration Services Team, specifically the Youth Services Programs. This person is primarily responsible for designing and implementing educational materials and programming that relate to refugee and immigrant youth. The YHWE will work closely with the Senior Manager of Youth Programs, RAMP Program Coordinator and other partners to provide outreach to contact a wide variety of audiences.

The Youth Health and Wellness Educator must exemplify Journey’s End’s core values in their work. These values include intercultural responsiveness, integrity, person-centered, empowerment, and exemplary service.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work with Senior Manager of Youth Programs to assess needs of youth clients

Develop a library of materials from existing sources, for presentations that are evidence-based, trauma informed and culturally and linguistically appropriate, and tailored specifically to refugee and immigrant youth

Present to youth in a variety of settings: internal referrals, schools, churches, within ethnic communities

Present in person and virtual workshops to youth and parents

Participate in roundtables, tabling and other outreach events related to refugee and immigrant youth health and wellness

Work with partners to secure presenters and/or arrange field trips focused on relevant topics

Ensure contractual obligations are met in terms of reaching goals, documentation, reporting and outreach

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent degree in a related field, or combination of experience and education

At least one year of experience working in a human services field, providing direct services such as case worker, social worker, employment counselor, etc.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English

Ability to work with diverse client groups in a variety of settings

Must be comfortable with public speaking

Must be comfortable working with youth and discussing sensitive topics

Valid driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
