Overview Marion County requires on-site work. Remote work is not available. This recruitment is reopened for additional applicants and remains open until filled. If you are a parent or caregiver of a child with mental health needs and have navigated multiple systems for your child such as mental health, education, juvenile justice, and/or child welfare, this may be the job for you. Join our team to support other parents using your shared lived experience to offer hope and encouragement.

Responsibilities

Identify as part of the wraparound team and provide engagement and outreach to individuals and families. Assist in identifying service needs and support individuals in obtaining services. Provide information to families on eligibility and referral requirements for various programs and advocate for families during any application process. Provide ongoing assistance in addressing barriers for families that are not engaging in treatment, families needing support services, and families needing assistance in connecting with community resources and coaching on how to access services and supports of all kinds. Provide transition advocacy and support especially between residential care and schools. Support navigation of the mental health and other treatment service system. Actively participate in strengthening linkages to community and peer-delivered services, including linkages to community-based services. Assess and build natural support network to increase natural supports.

Provide individual and group skill development to help families complete their action steps on the wrap plan. Provide support group facilitation, workshops, and classes as families are willing to attend.

Provide expertise and consultation to the team to promote a culture in which the individual and family’s point of view (Family Voice and Choice) and preferences are recognized, respected, and integrated into all decisions. Promote activities that foster recovery and empowerment by sharing personal experiences when appropriate, modeling self-help and wellness activities. Assist the Wraparound Facilitator and family to develop a strengths, needs, culture, discovery plan and proactive safety/crisis plan.

Represent the department on planning and policy committees and the Care Coordination Committee. Make recommendations to administration to ensure family-sensitive services. Participate in monthly New Solutions/MV-WRAP team meetings.

Provide services at various locations. Driving is a requirement of the position.

Document services in the client record.

Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Experience and Training:

Must have personal experience raising a youth currently or formerly receiving mental health services.

Special Requirements:

Discuss recovering experiences during the interview process. Must successfully complete a mental health approved peer support training program within six (6) months of hire. Must possess a current driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. Must not be excluded from participation in federal health care programs or procurement activities. Final candidates will be required to pass a criminal history background check and a pre-employment drug screen (including testing for marijuana).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of approaches to support others in recovery and resiliency; knowledge of community resources; ability to understand and carry out directions; maintain confidentiality; provide services to individuals; speak, read, and write English; provide documentation consistent with department standards; work hours conducive to reaching the identified population; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Physical Requirements:

Operate a motor vehicle; lift, push, pull, and carry items up to 5 lbs.; work in client homes or areas exposed to dust or second-hand smoke; work in uneven areas.

Benefits Marion County offers a comprehensive benefits package to regular employees working 50% or more of the regularly scheduled work week and their eligible dependents. Temporary employees and part-time regular employees working less than 50% of the weekly schedule are not eligible for benefits. The position is represented by the Marion County Employees Association (MCEA). Salary and benefits are subject to union contract negotiations.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Full‑time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Student Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
