Job Overview The Inpatient Financial Counseling Specialist performs benefit education and validation for inpatient, observation, and outpatient services. You will work onsite at the Ardent – Hillcrest South location in Tulsa, OK. The role requires face‑to‑face communication with patients, accurate verification of benefits, and diligent collection of patient liabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and collect patient liabilities, including copays, deductibles, co‑insurance, and balances after financial assistance.
Utilize face‑to‑face communication to collect estimated patient liabilities during patient stay.
Work with patient access, insurance eligibility, and follow‑up reports as assigned.
Conduct pre‑registration and registration tasks, collecting patient financial liability at time of service.
Monitor missed collection opportunities, make at least three attempts each day to visit a patient’s room, and pursue follow‑up as needed.
Document all account liabilities daily and make follow‑up phone calls to patients unable to pay while in‑house.
Send letters to patients post‑discharge detailing estimated liability and payment options.
Assist with consent to treat, observation, Medicare messages, and other registration‑related forms.
Assist eligibility specialists in verifying insurance information, Medicaid and charity processing, and other tasks.
Run a daily census to determine patients with potential eligibility.
Organize outpatient orders related to current and future service dates using queues within Revenue Cycle systems.
Experience & Qualifications
1+ years of customer service experience.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) required within 6 months of hire (Company paid).
