IT Data Center Cabling Technician (2nd Shift 3pm-12am)

is seeking an on‑site support technician for the provision and maintenance of DCS IT services within the assigned Data Center environment. The role is the first responder to investigate any issues or concerns relating to the Data Center systems. Core activities include fault diagnostics, hardware and cable installation, decommissioning, and general maintenance.
Responsibilities
Perform hardware installations (rack/stack) and cable installations (routing, terminating, structured cabling), including troubleshooting and testing.
Perform hardware decommissions and cable removal.
Coordinate DCS IT asset redundant power requirements with facilities staff to ensure proper load balance and fail‑over capacity.
Prepare and coordinate incoming/outgoing shipments; compare packing lists with purchase details.
Perform remote‑hands support (power cycles, cabling inspections, component swaps, hardware upgrades, testing of copper/fiber cables).
Grant site access to vendors or third parties requiring Data Center access and ensure compliance with site standards.
Carry out daily housekeeping checks of the data halls and record findings.
Support Service Management processes (Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, approving, and closing associated tickets.
Ensure Method Statements and Risk Assessments are prepared and used for all tasks to maintain safe working practices.
Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required; associate degree preferred.
2‑4 years of experience in computer science, management information systems, business management or a related field.
Accredited training in installation of copper and fiber structured cabling systems preferred.
Previous experience using Remedy, DCIM tools, and BMS systems preferred.
Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and to ask clarifying questions.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, respond to inquiries, and present information to internal departments or large groups.
Analytical skills; ability to solve problems in standard situations.
Ability to learn new technologies and understand fault diagnostic techniques, including handheld test equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Understanding of Data Center environment and working restrictions applicable to such environments.
