Overview
This role supports the design, engineering, and ongoing operations of data center environments. While external data center suppliers provide core infrastructure services, this position helps build internal capabilities to ensure smooth project execution and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Coordinate directly with data center vendors and suppliers to manage power, cabling, and infrastructure requirements.
Define and procure copper and fiber solutions, ensuring alignment with internal network and deployment teams.
Support full cabinet deployments, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of data center infrastructure (servers, cabling, networking hardware).
Perform decommissioning activities, including asset removal and cable cleanup.
Maintain accurate asset inventories and update asset management databases.
Ensure compliance with internal cabling, labeling, and operational standards.
Required Technical Skills
Hands-on experience with installation, maintenance, and removal of servers, cabling, and networking equipment.
Strong understanding of fiber optic technologies and structured cabling (including testing and remediation).
Ability to diagnose hardware faults and physical connectivity issues.
Knowledge of rack power distribution and connectivity requirements within data centers.
Familiarity with daily operational support in large-scale enterprise data center environments.
Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.
Capable of lifting and moving equipment up to 50 lbs.
Preferred / Flex Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience using ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow).
Familiarity with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools and Configuration Management Databases (CMDB).
