Embalmer / Prep Room Based Funeral Director
Cress Funeral & Cremation Services provides personalized funeral and cremation services in Madison, WI, with a history dating back to 1869. The caring team is focused on delivering meaningful tributes that families deserve.
As a high-volume firm, the funeral directors are assigned to either the arranging team or the care team, and our care team is looking to grow. This position is located at our central care facility in Middleton, WI.
Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation room operations, including embalming, dressing, cosmetics, casketing, and transportation.
Interact with families during viewings or cremation witnesses in the in‑house viewing and crematory suite.
Perform washings and dressings for various cultural practices.
Handle trade work for partners across the country, coordinating ship‑outs or transportation across state lines.
File necessary paperwork on the state vital records system.
Qualifications Dedicated funeral professional with experience in funeral service operations, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for teaching apprentices.
Benefits
Salary range: $52,000 – $70,000, with overtime pay.
Rotating weekend schedule (10 on / 4 off) and on‑call shifts about three times per month.
Full health insurance (choose from three plans).
