Responsibilities

Assist with management of NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Tennis programs, including conditioning, practices, recruiting, and travel arrangements.

Conduct regular team and individual practice sessions; coach student athletes; evaluate athlete performance in practice and competition.

Monitor conditioning and training of student athletes.

Arrange and conduct recruiting functions, including off- and on‑campus visits, evaluations, and contact with prospective student‑athletes.

Ensure necessary athletic equipment and gear are available and in proper condition for scheduled practices and competition; recommend repairs or replacement as necessary.

Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining statistics; attend coaches’ preparatory meetings and implement strategies resulting from these meetings.

Full travel responsibilities during in‑sport season.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Prior coaching experience at the college level or participation as a collegiate athlete.

Certification and Licensure

First Aid, CPR, AED Required (or willingness to obtain).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to act with honesty and sportsmanship at all times so that intercollegiate athletics as a whole, the university, and individuals represent the honor and dignity of fair play and generally recognized high standards.

Solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing recruitment and retention of student‑athletes.

Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence.

Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures; knowledge of all aspects of the strengthening and diving program.

Ability to successfully recruit and retain student athletes.

Skilled in exemplary customer service; able to deal effectively with students, faculty, staff, and general public both in person and over the telephone.

Maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers; work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.

Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective and current students.

Excellent writing skills and ability to develop written reports and action plans. Good organizational, oral, and recruiting skills.

Work effectively, decisively and flexibly in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Identify problems and propose feasible solutions.

Strong organizational skills, ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Knowledge of, or ability to learn, applicable sports‑related technology.

Lead and guide student athletes in area of specialty.

Travel with the team and monitor conduct of student athletes.

Provide effective supervision, assignments, changes, and corrections.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
