The Inside Sales Representative supports the Sales Team in generating and closing new business by preparing accurate quotes, processing orders, and coordinating communication between customers and internal teams. This role ensures a smooth and professional pre‑sale and order entry process, providing timely and responsive customer support before handing off to the Operations/Project Management Team for post‑sale execution.
Carried in accordance with Tejas Research & Engineering policies and applicable laws.
Sales Support for New Business
Respond promptly to RFQs and inquiries from prospective customers.
Prepare accurate quotes and proposals based on pricing guidelines, cost data, and lead times.
Assist the Sales Team with follow‑up on leads and prospects.
Maintain CRM records for all new business opportunities.
Quote Preparation & Accuracy
Work with Engineering and Operations to validate pricing, technical feasibility, and delivery timelines before issuing quotes.
Ensure proposals include correct technical specifications, Incoterms, and payment terms.
Track open quotes and follow up regularly to support order conversion.
Order Entry & Handoff
Process new orders from won opportunities into Order Tracking system.
Verify that POs match agreed commercial and technical terms.
Ensure all necessary documentation (drawings, customer specs, quality requirements) is attached to the order.
Handoff fully documented orders to the Operations/Project Management Team for execution.
Customer Communication
Support the Sales Team as point of contact for new prospects until the sale is closed.
Provide timely responses on pricing, delivery, and product capability questions.
Support early‑stage technical clarification in coordination with Engineering.
Cross‑Functional Coordination
Work with Operations Team to confirm availability and lead times for critical components during quoting.
Coordinate with Engineering/Quality for any special inspection/documentation requirements in quotes.
Support the Sales Team in gathering technical and commercial information for customer meetings.
Reporting & Metrics
Maintain CRM and up‑to‑date quoting dashboard, including total quotes issued, win rate, and average turnaround time.
Provide weekly updates to the Sales Team on quote activity and status.
Track conversion rates from quote to order for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of sales processes, quoting, and order management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with customers and internal teams effectively.
Ability to analyze technical information, validate pricing and delivery timelines, and provide accurate proposals.
Detail‑oriented with strong organization and documentation skills to maintain CRM records, quoting dashboards, and order documentation.
Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and follow up on multiple opportunities to support timely order conversion.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field preferred; relevant associate degree with experience may be considered.
3+ years of experience in sales support, inside sales, or technical sales, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
Experience with CRM systems, ERP/order entry systems, and cross‑functional collaboration between Sales, Engineering, and Operations.
