We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team in our insurance defense/ medical malpractice group.
This role requires excellent clerical skills in order to support attorneys in their legal work, including managing case files, drafting documents, coordinating discovery, organizing physical and digital case files, and assisting on document and trial preparation.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation from intake through trial or settlement.
Draft Answers/Pleadings and Other Stipulations and Notices
Draft and Serve Basic/ Discovery Motions and Related Required Documents
Draft Trial and Case Closing Documents as Appropriate
Draft and Serve Basic Non-Medical Subpoenas
Draft Discovery Demands and Responses
Transcribe Dictation
Prepare Requests for Change of Attorney
Request Preliminary Conferences / Requests for Judicial Intervention
Draft and Send Basic Case Correspondence
E-File and Manage Electronic Docket
Requirements
Previous experience working as a paralegal or legal assistant, ideally in medical malpractice or personal injury.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with medical experts, or knowledge of medical terminology or ability to interpret health records.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards.
Proficiency with case management software (namely, Clio) as well as e-discovery tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong trial preparation and support experience.
