Position Summary In partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI), the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Section of General & Preventive Cardiology seeks an academic non‑invasive general cardiologist for a full‑time, 12‑month salaried faculty appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. The position carries attending staff privileges at TGH and affiliated hospitals and involves teaching, research, service, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities
Clinical: Participate in inpatient general cardiology consult service, non‑invasive call & coverage, reading EKGs and stress tests; participate in Echo Lab and call & coverage for trans‑esophageal echocardiography, stress test on call, and echo reads if certified by a nationally accredited organization; conduct outpatient clinics; diagnose and treat cardiovascular disorders; order or conduct diagnostic testing; develop ongoing treatment plans; prescribe medication; coordinate referrals; conduct early‑detection screenings; maintain accurate patient records; communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and administration; report to the Chair or other appropriate administrator.
Teach, research, and perform service and related administrative activities.
Provide academic advising and related activities.
Represent the university, college, or department on university and statewide committees.
Qualifications
Minimum: Doctoral/Medical degree from an accredited institution; demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service; meet university criteria for appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor; for Associate or Full Professor, must have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed journals, and be a recognized authority in the field.
Preferred: Teaching experience with students/residents; experience with administrative organization/leadership of outpatient practices; clinical research or scholarship experience; Level II certification in echocardiography; expertise in adult non‑invasive assessment of heart disease (surface echo, trans‑esophageal, stress echo, adult congenital); experience in exercise testing, ECG interpretation, consulting and attending in a coronary intensive care unit; at least two years in non‑invasive cardiology.
