Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by respective department supervisors, deans, or division chairs. Applications remain active for up to two years.

Representative Duties

Provide instruction in a full range of Business courses, including: Intro to Business, Business Law, Principles of Management and Organization, Business Communication, Introduction to Marketing, Human Resource Management, Principles of Project Management, Introduction to Personal Finance, Managing Diversity in the Workplace, Financial Accounting, and Managerial Accounting.

Teach at other campus sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large classes, and distance learning using multiple teaching methodologies.

Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Business department; maintain subject matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; use computer and multimedia technology; and participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing, or business education.

OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in economics, personnel management, public administration, or JD/LL.B. degree.

OR Bachelor’s in economics with a business emphasis AND Master’s in personnel management, public administration, or JD/LL.B. degree.

OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and other accomplishments; submit an Application for Equivalence form with supporting documents.

Demonstrated sensitivity to diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

All degrees from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406); foreign degrees evaluated by an accredited service.

Knowledge & Abilities

Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.

Work with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.

Develop curriculum, including modalities for different delivery methods.

Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Maintain subject matter currency.

Assess student learning outcomes.

Use computers and explore new technologies that benefit the program.

Commitment to the California community college mission.
