Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction in a full range of French courses including, but not limited to, Elementary French and Intermediate French depending on institutional needs.
Participate in student recruitment and articulation of programs.
Maintain subject‑matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; use computer and multimedia technology; assess student learning and program‑level outcomes; collegially participate in department, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Use multiple teaching methodologies and teach at other campus sites; conduct day, evening, or weekend classes; large classes; distance‑learning classes; and classes for incarcerated students.
Qualifications
Master’s in French OR Bachelor’s in French AND Master’s in another language or linguistics OR equivalent qualifications.
A demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Degrees and credits from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by an evaluation service.
Knowledge & Abilities
Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment that promotes innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
Work effectively with students with a wide range of skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Maintain subject‑matter currency.
Assess student learning outcomes.
Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
