Weber Gallagher
has an immediate opening for an experienced Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to join its Delaware Workers' Compensation group. The candidate will work a hybrid schedule from our New Castle, DE office. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws and procedures.
Responsibilities
Assist attorneys in managing a high-volume caseload of workers’ compensation cases from inception to resolution.
Obtain medical records (via subpoenas), draft medical chronologies, and work with experts.
Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, discovery requests, medical summaries, etc.
File legal documents with state workers’ compensation boards or courts in accordance with local rules.
Organize and maintain client files, ensuring all records are up to date and properly stored.
Review and summarize medical records, and other case documentation.
Provide litigation support, as needed.
Will be responsible for meeting a daily time billing requirement.
Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
2+ years of Paralegal experience, preferably in workers’ compensation.
Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA approved organization.
Should have prior experience with time entries and billing experience to meet a daily billable hour requirement.
Familiarity with workers’ compensation concepts, terminology, and procedures.
Excellent attention to detail and organization skills.
Strong time management skills with the ability to meet all deadlines and prioritize workload.
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams of attorneys, legal staff, court staff, clients, expert witnesses, etc.
Ability to perform legal research, experience with Lexis a plus.
Familiarity with reviewing and obtaining medical records, including follow up, following deadlines, organization of medical records, preparing medical index, and discovery production process.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required.
Ability to work well independently and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
