Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr
SS&PF is a locally owned business originated in 1976 and located NSL Utah. Our plant consists of 18 acres and includes 100,000 square feet of production area. With over 100 teammates and an annual revenue of $35M we fabricate simple and complex projects for the Western US industrial market.
The Assistant Controller will oversee the daily accounting operations and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both managing and mentoring a small accounting team
while remaining hands‑on
with transactional accounting, reconciliations, and month‑end close processes. The Assistant Controller will collaborate with ownership, operations, and external accountants to maintain financial accuracy, ensure compliance with GAAP, and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Reporting
Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
Perform and review account reconciliations (bank, AR, AP, inventory, fixed assets, etc.)
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry and journal postings
Maintain general ledger integrity and month‑end close procedures
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Support external accountants with annual reviews or audits
Assist and train 2–3 accounting staff members handling AR, AP, and payroll
Establish clear procedures and quality standards for transactional processing
Provide coaching and performance feedback to ensure team efficiency and accuracy
Compliance & Controls
Ensure GAAP compliance and proper internal controls
Support tax preparation and filings by maintaining accurate supporting schedules
Coordinate with external auditors, bankers, and insurance partners as needed
Systems & Process Improvement
Manage and improve accounting systems and workflows (QuickBooks)
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and automate recurring tasks
Maintain documentation of accounting policies and procedures
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
Master’s in Accounting (MAcc) or MBA preferred
Experience
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role
Experience in a small to mid‑sized manufacturing or construction company preferred
Skills
Strong knowledge of full accounting cycle and GAAP
Hands‑on experience with QuickBooks Desktop/Online
Paycom experience for payroll
Advanced Excel and financial analysis skills
Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Certifications
CPA preferred but not required
