Position Summary Supervisor of Patient Accounts Billing – Brooklyn

Oversee daily operations to ensure accurate, timely, and customer‑centered patient financial support. Manage compliance, team performance, and patient access to financial assistance and coverage options.

Job Responsibilities

Organizational Awareness:

Apply NYU Langone Health and Financial Counseling standards, coordinate departmental goals, and maintain policy compliance.

Operations Oversight:

Supervise workflow, billing, and follow‑up; conduct audits, track performance, maintain records, and provide staff guidance.

Patient Financial Services:

Assess Medicaid eligibility, marketplace plans, and internal assistance programs; verify insurance, authorize claims, resolve billing issues, and support revenue cycle integrity.

Compliance & Regulations:

Perform quality audits, root‑cause analysis, and maintain HIPAA and federal/state regulatory compliance.

Staff Supervision & Development:

Provide onboarding, training, scheduling, performance reviews, and recruitment assistance.

Performance Evaluation:

Conduct reviews, use key performance indicators, assign reports, and manage discipline in coordination with HR.

Judgment, Decision Making & Knowledge:

Apply critical thinking, maintain current knowledge of counseling processes, and make timely decisions based on data.

Collaboration & Communication:

Promote excellent customer service, liaise with related departments, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

Oversee financial counseling for patients transitioning to hospital care, support Medicaid enrollment initiatives, and prepare patients for hospital‑level assistance reviews.

Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 2–4 years of equivalent healthcare experience.

Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Independent work ability, functional relationship management across all levels.

Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

Supervisory or lead experience in Financial Counseling or Revenue Cycle.

College degree or coursework.

Proficiency with imaging, reporting, spreadsheet, and related programs for data analysis.

Understanding of basic medical terminology.

Qualified candidates must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Salary Transparen​cy Notice The salary range for this role is $64,350.00 – $65,000.00 annually, pending experience and other factors. This range does not include bonuses or other compensation.
