JOB SUMMARY The Account Manager II manages a book of insurance business and provides professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. The role requires complex risk management and acts with a high degree of independent discretion, autonomy, and decision‑making. The Account Manager II also supports producers and other support staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Work closely with producers and other HUB personnel on all aspects of client service, marketing, and renewal while adhering to HUB’s best practices and standard procedures.

Provide professional, courteous service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues, achieving account retention that meets or exceeds expectations.

Oversee and perform, when needed, the preparation and implementation of transaction paperwork and internal processing for assigned accounts, including acting as a backup for other support staff.

Acquire an understanding of clients’ insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans to determine suitability.

Coordinate and implement the client’s strategic plan, including key value‑added services such as Pre‑Renewal Strategic Planning, Risk ID Assessments, Contract Reviews, Claims Reviews, Market Analysis, Stewardship Reports, and Deductible Analysis.

Act as a liaison between clients and carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues that require policy interpretation and judgment, negotiate with underwriters and carriers, and troubleshoot claims and billing issues.

Identify opportunities for cross‑sell and up‑sell of HUB products and services, documenting other insurance products purchased through third‑party providers.

Maintain accurate and organized account files, documenting conversations and updating all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems.

Prepare reports, proposals, and comparisons for management as required.

Stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and other external conditions, recommending appropriate actions to clients and attending continuing education training and courses.

Oversee functions performed by less experienced Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers as required.

Support, mentor, and train other support staff members.

Provide high‑level support to sales staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business.

Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or GED.

5+ years of account management experience in brokerage (or equivalent education and experience).

Property & Casualty license.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Effective verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.

Effective presentation and response to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and agency management systems.

Critical thinking: use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternatives, select solutions, and implement them.

Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.

Confidence and demeanor to interact with all organizational levels.

Ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships and work effectively with vendors.

Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit feedback, and handle difficult or emotional situations promptly and accurately.

Mathematical calculation skills for discounts, commissions, and percentages.

Prioritization and organization of multiple tasks to meet deadlines with optimal accuracy.

Teamwork and coaching skills to develop others’ abilities.

Problem‑solving: identify complex problems, review information, evaluate options, and implement solutions.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

High school diploma or GED (college degree strongly preferred).

At least 3+ years of commercial lines insurance experience within a brokerage environment.

Current and good‑standing licensing.

Confidence and demeanor to interact with all levels in the organization.

Computer literacy – Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

SALARY & BENEFITS The expected salary range for this position is $65,000–$85,000 per year, dependent on geographic location and influenced by experience and business line. HUB International offers comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, FSA, HSA, 401(k) plans, paid‑time‑off, bonuses, equity, and commissions for suitable positions.
