J.W. Didado Electric
The Cost Accountant works under the guidance of and assists the corporate controller in preparing and reporting financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Quanta standards. This position will have a dedicated focus on job cost writeups and reporting, month end closing entries, workpaper preparation and review. This position will be headquartered in our Akron headquarters.
Major Areas of Responsibility
Assist the Controller as required to meet company needs and objectives.
Participate in monthly close & financial reporting process.
Analyze project level costs, profitability, and performance metrics.
Track bid margins to performance margins.
Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting required by Quanta.
Participate in internal and external audits.
Adheres to the established system of internal controls.
Reporting and special projects as needed.
Performs accounting functions in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and Quanta standards.
Specific Responsibilities of the Job
Works with project managers to monitor job costs, billings, under billings, accruals and cross train on WIP schedule preparation.
Job Set-up and job file maintenance. Job files to include contract, purchase orders, change orders and other pertinent job specific correspondence.
Update contract and estimated costs within ERP System.
Work with staff accountant to ensure fixed assets are set up properly.
Support Controller or CFO with various job cost analysis.
Support JWD leadership with special projects.
Additional Attributes for Success as the Senior Accountant
Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Adherence to Quanta’s prescribed set of internal control procedures and segregation of duty matrix.
Engagement with accounting team, project management team, fleet, estimators, executive management.
Accurate and well documented workpapers and analysis.
Effective communication with accounting department leadership and accounting team.
Curiosity and a need to improve processes to gain efficiencies.
Manages deadlines effectively and provides sufficient time for review by others.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
3-5 years accounting experience in a senior level accounting role
Construction Accounting experience is a plus
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
Self-motivated and self-directed
Ability to effectively manage a team
