Senior Accountant II - Commercial/Retail
Location: Holton, KS – 20‑25 min outside of Topeka.
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 17:00.
The Senior Accountant will support commercial and retail accounting activities, including general ledger transactions, accounts payable/receivable, month‑end close, and balance sheet reconciliations. The role also supports project setup, planning, analysis, and closeout, and handles inventory adjustments for large jobs.
Responsibilities
General Ledger:
journal entries (labor, cash, accruals, prepaids, WIP), bank statement and GL reconciliations, strategic forecasting and budgeting assistance.
Sales Tax:
maintain and apply sales‑tax rules by county/state.
Project Administration:
prepare project reports, track status, collect and file final statements and lien waivers, support month‑end inventory review.
Accounts Payable:
process subcontractor pay applications, reconcile invoices, manage vendor set‑ups, record certified payroll, disburse funds, prepare final statements, analyze project accounting metrics.
Accounts Receivable:
review progress billing, match payments, prepare AR aging, coordinate with Business Managers to collect past‑due balances, release invoices to customers.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.
3–5 years of accounting experience in commercial and retail environments.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ERP experience with QuickBooks or Unanet preferred.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Physical Demands
Mobile with accommodations; ability to sit/stand/lean, read screens, lift up to 25 lb.
